Engineers Australia provides formal skills assessments for engineers seeking to migrate to Australia, with multiple assessment pathways available depending on qualification accreditation status and origin country.
Important note
Assessment outcome letters are valid indefinitely with Engineers Australia, but applicants must check the Department of Home Affairs website for visa validity periods. Engineers Australia does not provide migration advice or award migration points. Applicants must contact the Department of Home Affairs for visa-related questions. From 1 September 2024, Advanced Diploma and Associate Degree qualifications are only eligible under the Australian pathway if accredited by Engineers Australia. Applicants can request outcome reviews or appeals if they disagree with assessment results.
Eligibility Criteria
5 criteria- Must hold an engineering qualification from a recognized institution
- Qualification must be either: fully accredited under Washington Accord, Sydney Accord, or Dublin Accord; accredited by Engineers Australia; or demonstrate engineering competency through a CDR pathway
- For accredited qualifications: must have been completed in or after the year the country became a full signatory to the relevant Accord
- Must be seeking to work in one of four occupational categories: Professional engineer, Engineering technologist, Engineering associate, or Engineering manager
- Must meet English language requirements as specified in the detailed application guidelines
- Proof of qualification (diploma, degree certificate)
- Evidence of educational institution accreditation status
- Details of engineering experience and work history
- Documentation supporting nominated occupational category
- For CDR pathway: Competency Demonstration Report demonstrating knowledge, skills and competency against Engineers Australia standards
- English language test results or evidence of English proficiency (if required)
- All documents must be in English or certified English translations
