AIMS (Australian Institute of Medical Scientists) is the designated assessing authority for skills assessment of overseas applicants seeking migration to Australia for medical laboratory and pathology collection occupations. AIMS does not provide migration advice. For visa requirement information, applicants must visit the Department of Home Affairs website. English language test requirements have been updated as of 12 March 2026. Applications remaining incomplete for more than 12 months may be withdrawn and closed by AIMS. AIMS also offers employer-requested skills assessment and amendment services for original applications.
Eligibility Criteria
5 criteria- Applicant must be seeking migration to Australia
- Applicant must be in one of the specified occupations: Medical Laboratory Scientist (ANZSCO 234611), Medical Laboratory Technician (ANZSCO 311213), Medical Laboratory Scientist - IVF Embryologist specialisation, or Pathology Collector/Phlebotomist (ANZSCO 311216)
- Must meet Proficient English requirements as per Department of Home Affairs (English language test requirements updated 12 March 2026)
- English test must include all four components (Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking) completed in one sitting with required scores achieved in the same test result
- English test results must not include a One Skill Retake component
- Occupation-specific application form (with checklist)
- Evidence of English language proficiency (meeting Proficient English standard)
- Supporting documentation and qualifications relevant to the assessed occupation
- Work experience documentation as applicable
